Iranian experts have upgraded the Hawk air defense missile system, the public relations department of the Khatam-ol-Anbiya Air Defense Base announced in a press release on Monday.
"Young experts at the air defense base have managed to upgrade various parts of the Hawk missile system and have improved the capabilities of the system," the commander of the air defense base said, according to the press release.
Brigadier General Farzad Esmaeili said that the effective range of the radar system of the medium-range surface-to-air Hawk missile system has been doubled.
He went on to say that the missile system has also been modified so that it can deal with electronic warfare measures.
In addition, he said that the capability of the system to track and engage targets has been improved by 40 percent.
On January 28, Iran unveiled two domestically manufactured simulators for Hawk and Skyguard air defense missile systems.
The simulators have also been designed and manufactured by experts at the Khatam-ol-Anbiya Air Defense Base.
The simulators are able to simulate various targets including missiles, aircraft, helicopters, and drones and implement various military tactics and electronic warfare measures.
