Western countries have decreased their military spending until 2013, but what happens in Asian countries is the opposite.
A new report published by IHS Jane, an agency that oversees arms' trade and global defense, shows that Asia-Pacific countries are dominating 24 percent of global defense budgets.
This number may increase up to 28 percent at the end of this decade.
According to the agency, territorial disputes in Asia are the main factor of the increase in countries' defense budgets in the region. This report also predicts 2014 to become the first year since 2009 that global defense budgets will grow, from US$1,538 trillion last year to US$1,547 trillion.
The United States is the country with the largest spending for defense budget. The US' military spending in 2013 was US$582.4, four times bigger than China's, which is ranked the second place by IHS Jane. China, Japan, India and South Korea are among the top ten ranking of countries with the biggest defense budget in 2013.
