Daring Dutch tank driver tests its brakes

How do you test the brakes on a new tank? Well, if you're particularly confident, you can do what this driver did: line up 23 volunteers - dressed in quite sombre suits - and drive at them at full speed, slamming on the brakes at the last possible moment.

The stunt, which took place in Holland, uses a 62.3 ton Leopard 2 tank. Developed in Germany in 1979, the Leopard 2 is used by several armies around the world, mostly in Europe.

The Royal Netherlands Army used to operate 445 Leopard tanks, but decommissioned its last tank batallion in 2011 as part of a programme of cuts.

Travelling at full speed, the tank is capable of reaching 42 miles per hour. The video has appeared on Youtube without explanation of who conducted the stunt, where, or why.
