A remote-controlled bomb exploded yesterday, killing at least 12
Frontier Corps personnel and injured others in Ghulam Khan Tehsil of
North Waziristan tribal region, Pakistan.
Pakistan Today, however, reported Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a statement confirming that at least nine security personnel were killed and several others were critically wounded.
The explosion came from an improvised explosive devise (IED) planted on the roadside, which was detonated when the security forces came near Miramshah Road. No militant group has claimed to be responsible for the incident.
Meanwhile, the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) defused a roadside bomb in Khyber tribal area that was targeted at the polio team. In Peshawaar, unknown militants blasted a radio transmission line.
These attacks came as the government and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) are in peace talks. Both sides have agreed on a ceasefire that led to the smooth peace process. But the talks that faced deadlocks have made the TTP refusing to extend the ceasefire.
